Myranthia 1 was a granddaughter of Philaretos 1 (St Philaretos); she was the second daughter of Hypatia 1 and the sister of Maria 2, Euanthia 2 and Petronas 2: Nicetas, Vita Philareti, p. 141, lines 19-20 (ἡ δὲ δευτέρα θυγάτηρ). After her elder sister Maria 2 married the emperor Constantine VI (Konstantinos 8, in 788), Myranthia 1 married Konstantinakios 1: Nicetas, Vita Philareti, p. 143, lines 18-19 (τὴν δὲ δευτέραν ἐμνηστεύσατο εἷς τῶν μεγιστάνων αὐτοῦ πατρίκιος, ὄνομα Κωνσταντινάκιος). The family was of Armenian descent; see Maria 2.
