Lounisso was a citizen of Anagnia in Campania and a priest; in 772 he and his fellow Anagnian Leonatius (Leonatios 1) accompanied the cubicularius Calventzulus 1 to the cell where the secundicerius Sergius (Sergios 53) was being held ("cum Lunissone presbitero et Leonatio tribuno, habitatoribus civitatis Anagnine"); the date was eight days before the death of pope Stephen IV (III) (Stephanos 84); Calventzulus 1 removed Sergios 53 and handed him over to them; during an investigation held under pope Hadrian (Hadrianos 1) Calventzulus 1 confessed that he had received orders to do this from Paulus Afiarta (Paulos 51), Gregorios 77, Ioannes 239 (brother of pope Stephen IV (III) (Stephanos 84)) and Calvulus 1: Lib. Pont. 97. 10. The two men were brought back to Rome from Anagnia by pope Hadrianos 1's men and admitted that these were the men who had given them orders to remove and kill Sergios 53; they then escorted servants of the pope to the place where they had killed and buried Sergios 53, at Merulana, near a painted arch by the road leading to St Maria Maggiore: Lib. Pont. 97. 11. The incident roused strong feelings at Rome, and the pope ordered the two men to be handed over, with Calvulus 1, to the praefectus urbi to stand trial; they were held in the Elephant prison; at their trial, which was in public, Lounisso 1 and Leonatios 1 admitted their guilt: Lib. Pont. 97. 12-13 (they are alluded to as "praenominati Campanini" or similar). Lounisso 1 and Leonatios 1 were sent into exile to Constantinople: Lib. Pont. 97. 13 ("pro vero amputandis tantis intolerabilibus flagitii reatibus missi sunt ipsi Campanini Constantinopolim in exilium"). The account of their trial was sent by the pope to Ravenna for the information of Paulus Afiarta (Paulos 51): Lib. Pont. 97. 14.
