Calventzulus 1 was a cubicularius, at Rome; in early 772, eight days before the death of pope Stephen IV (III) (Stephanos 84), he was sent with the Campanians Lunisso (Lounisso 1) and Leonatius (Leonatios 1) to take the secundicerius Sergios 53 from his cell; Calventzulus 1 then handed him over to the Campanians; when questioned about this under pope Hadrian I (Hadrianos 1), Calventzulus 1 admitted the facts and claimed to have received his orders from Paulus Afiarta (Paulos 51), Gregorios 77, Ioannes 239 (brother of pope Stephanos 84) and Calvulus 1: Lib. Pont. 97. 10 ("Calventzulus cubicularius").
