Agiprand 1 was nephew of the Lombard king Liutprand (Liutprand 1): Lib. Pont. 93. 11, Paul. Diac., Hist. Lang. VI 57. He was the dux of Clusium in 742 and was sent by the king with Tacipert 1, Ramning 1 and Grimoald 2 to escort pope Zacharias (Zacharias 16) on his return from Interamna and restore to him en route certain cities which the Lombards had seized: Lib. Pont. 93. 11 ("rex misit in eius obsequium Agiprandum ducem Clusinum, nepotem suum"). His uncle appointed him dux of Spoletium in place of Transamundus (Trasimund 3); on his approach to Beneventum, Godescalc 1 fled: Paul. Diac., Hist. Lang. VI 57.
