Trasimund 3 was the son of the Lombard dux of Spoletium, Faroald 1; he revolted against his father, forced him to become a cleric, and seized his ducatus: Paul. Diac., Hist. Lang. VI 44 ("contra hunc Faroaldum ducem filius suus Transamundus insurrexit, eumque clericum faciens locum eius invasit"). Later he rebelled against the king, Liutprand 1; when the king marched against him he fled to Rome and his post was given to Hilderic 1; after some years he returned to Spoletium, killed Hilderic 1 and again rebelled against the king: Paul. Diac., Hist. Lang. VI 55. Liutprand 1 came to Spoletium and expelled Trasimund 3 from his post, forcing him to become a cleric ("at vero Liutprand Spoletium perveniens, Transamundum ducatum expulit eumque clericum fecit"); his post was then taken by Agiprand 1: Paul. Diac., Hist. Lang. VI 57.
