Hilderic 1 was appointed dux of Spoletium when Trasimund 3 rebelled and was driven out by king Liutprand 1, fleeing to Rome for refuge ("in cuius loco Hildericus ordinatus est"); later Trasimund 3 returned from Rome, killed Hilderic 1 and resumed his rebellion: Paul. Diac., Hist. Lang. VI 55.
