Ramning 1 was a Lombard gastald of Tuscania (in Tuscia); in 742 he was sent by king Liutprand 1 with Agiprand 1, Tacipert 1 and Grimoald 2 to escort pope Zacharias (Zacharias 16) on his return from Interamna and en route to restore to him certain cities which the Lombards had formerly seized; they escorted him to Ameria and Horta and Polymartium, and then Grimoald 2 took him to Blera, which Ramning 1 and Grimoald 2 surrendered to him: Lib. Pont. 93. 11 ("rex misit in eius obsequium Agiprandum ... seu Tacipertum ... et Ramningum gastaldium Tuscanensem atque Grimualdo ..."). Ramning 1 was apparently a gastald stationed at Tuscania, while Tacipert 1 was a gastald at the royal court.
