Tacipert 1 was a Lombard gastald; in 742 he was sent by king Liutprand 1 with Agiprand 1, Ramning 1 and Grimoald 2 to escort pope Zacharias (Zacharias 16) on his return from Interamna and restore to him en route certain cities formerly seized by the Lombards: Lib. Pont. 93. 11 ("rex misit in eius obsequium Agiprandum ... seu Tacipertum gastaldium in eius obsequium et Ramningum ... atque Grimualdo"). Perhaps the words "gastaldium in eius obsequium" should here be taken together and understood to mean that Tacipert 1 was a gastald at the court of Liutprand 1; cf. Ramning 1.
