Stabilis 2 was dux, under the Lombard king Desiderius (Desiderios 3); in c. 773 he and the referendarius Andreas 32 were sent by the king as envoys ("missi") to pope Hadrian I (Hadrianos 1) to invite him for talks; Hadrianos 1 laid down certain conditions and the Lombard envoys returned to Desiderius 3 followed by the papal envoys Pardus and Anastasius (Pardos 7 and Anastasios 37): Lib. Pont. 97. 20-21 ("suos missos ... id est Andream referendarium et Stabilem ducem").
