Sergios 48 was ordinator, at Rome; in late 710 he was one of four church officials murdered at Rome by the exarchos John Rizocopus (Ioannes 230): Lib. Pont. 90. 3 ("Sergium ordinatorem"). The post of ordinator is unrecorded elsewhere; Duchesne, Lib. Pont., p. 394, n. 11, suggests that he was a master of ceremonies. No explanation is given for the murders. Cf. also Petros 66, Saioulos 1 and Sergios 47.
