Saioulos 1 was a deacon and (according to the later recension) vicedominus at Rome; in late 710 he was one of four church officials who were murdered at Rome by the exarchos Ioannes 230 (John Rizocopus): Lib. Pont. 90. 4 ("Saiulum diaconum et vicedominum"). No explanation is given for the murders. See also Petros 66, Sergios 47 and Sergios 48.
