Petros 4 was a grandson of Philaretos 1 (St Philaretos), third son of Euanthia 1 and Michael 2, brother of Anthis 1, Niketas 7, Philaretos 2, Kosmou 1 and Hypatia 2: Nicetas, Vita Philareti, p. 141, line 23. The family was of Armenian descent; see Maria 2.
