Hypatia 2 was a granddaughter of St Philaretos (Philaretos 1), daughter of Euanthia 1 and Michael 2, sister of Anthis 1, Niketas 7, Petros 4, Philaretos 2 and Kosmou 1: Nicetas, Vita Philareti, p. 141, line 23. The family was of Armenian descent; see Maria 2.
