Niketas 7 was a grandson of St Philaretos (Philaretos 1), second son of Michael 2 and Euanthia 1, brother of Anthis 1, Petros 4, Philaretos 2, Kosmou 1 and Hypatia 2: Nicetas, Vita Philareti, p. 141, lines 23-24 (ὁ δεύτερος υἱός Νικήτας). The family was of Armenian descent; see Maria 2.
