Nikolaos 48 was the bishop (of Anagnia); one of a delegation of three bishops (the others were Petronakios 1 and Ioannes 316) sent to summon Anastasios 25 (Anastasius Bibliothecarius) to attend a church council to account for his prolonged absence from his parish; the date was between 848 and 853, probably 853: Lib. Pont. 105. 92. His see is not named, but a note in Duchesne (Lib. Pont., pp. 138-9, n. 56) names his see as Anagnia and gives the date of the embassy as 853. Probably identical with Nikolaos 49.
