Ioannes 316 was the bishop of an unknown see in Italy; he was one of a delegation of three bishops (the others were Nikolaos 48 and Petronakios 1) sent to summon Anastasios 25 (Anastasius Bibliothecarius) to attend a Church Council to answer for his conduct in absenting himself from his parish at Rome; the date was between 848 and 853, possibly 853: Lib. Pont. 105. 92. On the circumstances, and the date 853, see Duchesne, Lib. Pont., pp. 138-139, n. 56. The name of his see is not recorded.
