A tribunus, Ioulianos 8 was sent with Vitalianus (Bitalianos 4) and Petrus (Petros 7) by the people of Ravenna and by the archbishop of Ravenna, Leo 114 as envoy to pope Hadrian I (Hadrianos 1) in 772 to inform him that the Lombard king Desiderius (Desiderios 3) had seized Faventia, the duchy of Ferraria and Comiaclum and was causing intolerable shortages in Ravenna, and to ask him to help them to recover those cities: Lib. Pont. 97. 6-7. Later in the same year Ioulianos 8 delivered a message from Hadrianos 1 to Leo 114, ordering the arrest of Paulus Afiarta (Paulos 51): Lib. Pont. 97. 9 ("per Iulianum tribunum"). Following the murder of Paulos 51, Leo 114 sent his excuses to Rome via his envoy Ioulianos 8 ("per Iulianum tribunum suum missum"): Lib. Pont. 97. 17.
