Ioannes 238 was bishop of Faventia (in Flaminia); present at the Council of Rome in 769: Lib. Pont. 96. 17 ("Iohannes, episcopus civitate Faventias"). He is named thirty first in the list of bishops from Italy. According to one manuscript he and Antoninos 3 were sent as representatives of the archbishop of Ravenna, Sergios 54; see Duchesne, Lib. Pont., p. 483, n. 44 (the manuscript of Cenni adds: "missis a praedicto Sergio archiepiscopo Ravennae"). Cf. however Ioannes 237 and Valentinus 3.
