Hadrianos 11 was a secundicerius of the Roman church ("Hadrianum insigne secundicerium sanctae sedis apostolicae"); in 855, after the arrest of envoys (Georgios 167 and Maio 1) sent by the bishop elect of Rome, Benedict III (Benediktos 7), to meet the envoys of the Frankish emperor Louis II (Lodoïchos 1) (Adalbert 2 and Bernard 3), Hadiranos 11 was sent by Benediktos 7, with Gregorios 94, also to meet the envoys but was himself arrested by them and taken to Rome: Lib. Pont. 106. 10-11.
