Georgios 167 was the bishop of Polimartium (i.e. Bomarzo); in 855 he and his fellow bishop Maio 1 were sent by the bishop elect of Rome, Benedict III (Benediktos 7), to the Frankish envoys Adalbert 2 and Bernard 3 at the basilica of St Leucius (five miles from Rome) with letters (presumably supporting Benediktos 7's claim to the see); the envoys, on the advice of the rival claimant to the see, Anastasius (Anastasios 25), had them both put under arrest; they are described as venerable and wise and learned ("venerabiles prudentesque et in omni scientia plenos episcopos"): Lib. Pont. 106. 10. Georgios 167 is attested among the signatories of the Council of Rome in 853 as bishop of Polimartium; see Duchesne, Lib. Pont. II, p. 149, n. 10.
