Georgios 221 was a bishop in Italy sent with Thomarichos 2 and Komitas 6 by pope Stephen III (II) (Stephanos 8) as an envoy to the Frankish king Pepin 1; they accompanied Warnehar 1 (a Frankish envoy) to inform Pepin 1 of the attacks on Rome and the neighbourhood by the Lombard king Aistulf 1 and to seek his intervention; he is mentioned in letters of Stephanos 8: Codex Carolinus, nos. 8 and 9 (pp. 497, 500) ("nostrum missum Georgium reverendissimum ac sanctissimum fratrem et coepiscopum nostrum").
