Stephanos 82 was a priest at Rome; on 15 November 753 he was in the retinue of pope Stephen III (II) (Stephanos 8) when the pope set out from Ticinum (Pavia) for Francia; Stephanos 82 presumably accompanied Stephanos 8 when the pope left Rome on 14 October: Lib. Pont. 94. 23 ("Leonem, Philippum, Georgium et Stephanum presbiteros"). Cf. Georgios 128, Leo 112 and Philippos 10. In early 757 Stephanos 82 was sent by pope Stephanos 8 to Ratchis 1 with a letter announcing the pope's support for Desiderius (Desiderios 3) as the next king of the Lombards: Lib. Pont. 94. 50 ("suum missum, id est Stefanum venerabilem presbiterum").
