Prandoulos 1 was vestiarius of the Lombard king Desiderius (Desiderios 3) ("Prandulum, vestararium suum" (sic)); he was one of the three envoys (see also Theodikios 1 and Tunno 1) sent by Desiderios 3 to pope Hadrian I (Hadrianos 1) in 772, shortly after Hadrianos 1 was elected pope, to establish friendly relations; when the new pope expressed doubts about the Lombard king's reliability, the envoys swore on oath that he would restore to the Roman Church the rights which had not been restored during the pontificate of Stephen IV (III) (Stephanos 84); Hadrianos 1 accepted this and sent envoys of his own (Stephanos 87 and Paulos 51) to Desiderios 3: Lib. Pont. 97. 5-6.
