Leo 110 was of Armenian origin, supposedly descended from the Arsacids; a prominent man at Constantinople and of noble birth, he had more than one daughter; during the reign of Constantine VI (Konstantinos 8) and Eirene 1 he met a fellow Armenian, Maiktes 1, and married one of his daughters to him (Anonyma 29); his grandson (Anonymus 232) by this marriage was the father of the emperor Basil I (Basilios 7): Theoph. Cont. V 3. He appears in the pedigree of Basilios 7 recorded by Basilios 7's grandson, the emperor Constantine VII Porphyrogenitus; the earlier parts of the pedigree are apocryphal, but Leo 110 and Maiktes 1 may be genuine; the name Leo recurs among the known relatives of Basilios 7. If so, Leo 110 was the greatgrandfather of Basilios 7. He was perhaps related to the Armenians settled at Adrianopolis; cf. Basilios 7.
