Of Armenian family, Anonymus 232 was supposedly descended from the Arsacids; Anonymus 232 was the grandson of Leo 110, son of Maiktes 1 and Anonyma 29; he married Anonyma 31 (= Pankalo 1) and was the father of the future emperor Basil I (Basilios 7): Theoph. Cont. V 3. Details of the pedigree of Basil I recorded in the Life by his grandson Constantine VII Porphyrogenitus are suspect, but the more recent details may be correct. The father of Basilios 7, he lived at Adrianopolis and was carried off with his wife (Anonyma 31 = Pankalo1) and his newly born son (Basilios 7) into captivity when the Bulgar ruler Krum 1 took the city in 813: Theoph. Cont. V 4. Eventually they were all released and allowed to return home to Adrianopolis (possibly around 836/338, see Basilios 7); Anonymus 232 was a farmer and earned his living from the land but died when his eldest son Basilios 7 was approaching manhood: Theoph. Cont. V 5-7.
