Krasas 1 rode for the red faction at the chariot races held in the palace of St Mamas to celebrate the birth of Leo 25 (the future emperor Leo VI) in September 866: Leo Gramm. 249 (ὁ Κρασᾶς), Georg. Mon. Cont. 835 (ὁ Κρυσᾶς), Ps.-Symeon 681 (ὁ Κρασσός). The other colours were represented by the emperor Michael III (Michael 11), Konstantinos 41 and Agallianos 2. Cf. Winkelmann, Quellenstudien, pp. 83-4, 173.

Krasas 1 is recorded as riding for the red faction on another occasion, when news of an Arab invasion of Thrakesion was announced to the emperor Michael III (Michael 11) during the chariot races: Theoph. Cont. IV 36 (p. 198) (ὁ Κρασᾶς). This time the other factions were represented by the emperor Michael III (Michael 11), Konstantinos 41 and Cheilas 1.
