Ioannes 466 was the son of the patrikios Basilios 132 and the patrikia Anonyma 83, he had the same name as the Prodromos, i.e. John the Baptist (τοῦ τοῦ Προδρόμου ὁμωνύμου ἔρνους σου παγκαλλίστου); he had brothers and sisters; he died still in the prime of life (αὐτὸ τῆς ἡλικίας ἄγων τὸ βιώσιμον), and Theodoros 15 (Theodore the Stoudite) sent a letter of condolence to his father, Basilios 132, between 815 and early 819; Ioannes 466 was well educated, well conducted and well spoken (εὐπαίδευτος καὶ τρόπῳ καὶ λόγῳ, εὐμελὴς καὶ ἤθει καὶ φθέγματι), and is praised for his piety; he was firm in his support of the veneration of icons: Theod. Stud., Ep. 398 (815/early 819).
