Georgios 131 was bishop of Praeneste; in 767 he was forced (see Toto 1) to ordain the layman Constantine (Konstantinos 140) through all the clerical grades and finally to consecrate him, with bishops Eustratios 11 and Citonatus 2, as bishop of Rome: Lib. Pont. 96. 3-4. Shortly afterwards he suffered a stroke which paralysed him and caused his right hand to wither; he remained so until his death: Lib. Pont. 96. 6 ("Georgius episcopus Penestre").
