A priest of the church of Rome, Georgios 15 was one of the three clergy from Rome who represented Pope Agatho 1 at the Third Council of Constantinople (the Sixth Ecumenical Council); the other two clergy were Theodoros 22 and Ioannes 31, the former a priest, the latter a deacon: Riedinger, p. 16, line 3 (= Mansi XI 209-210) (the old Latin version printed in Mansi here and at 218 gives his name as "Gregorius", but elsewhere as "Georgius"; the old Latin version in Riedinger calls him "Georgius" throughout). He was sent to the Council by pope Agatho 1: Riedinger, p. 56, line 8, p. 889, line 19, p. 895, line 31 (= Mansi XI 236, 685, 716, also in Mansi 728), Lib. Pont. 81. 3 ("Theodorum et Georgium presbyteros"), 82. 2, Photius, Ep. 1, p. 12, lines 322-325 (Θεόδωρος καὶ Γεώργιος, ἐν πρεσβυτέρων ἀξιώματι κατειλεγμένοι). In the subscriptions to the statement of the faith, which condemned monotheletism, and to the Council he is styled ἐλάχιστος πρεσβύτερος τῆς ἁγίας ἐκκλησίας Ῥώμης: Riedinger, p. 778, line 6, p. 822, line 7 (= Mansi XI 640, 668). At the opening session he and his colleagues from Rome raised the question of the recent heresies of Monotheletism and One Energy: Riedinger, pp. 20-22, lines 15-31, 1-5 (= Mansi XI 212-213). At the sixth session (February 12) they condemned the texts produced by Makarios 1 and his supporters in support of the doctrine of One Will as being corrupt and in their turn undertook to produce other texts of the Fathers which supported the anti-monothelete stance: Riedinger, p. 178, lines 6-28 (= Mansi XI 325). They produced a volume (κωδίκιον) of relevant statements at the seventh session (February 13) and this was read out by Stephanos 16: Riedinger, pp. 186-188, lines 21-30, 1-11 (= Mansi XI 329-332).
