Euphrosyne 4 was the daughter of Eirene 17: Theod. Stud., Epp. 62, p. 173, line 1; 458, pp. 651-652, lines 26-28; 460, p. 655, line 3; 465, p. 667, line 48; 472, p. 678, line 8. Her father (Anonymus 582) was a patrikios and strategos: Theod. Stud., Ep. 458, p. 652, line 29. She was of Armenian origin on her mother's side: Theod. Stud., Ep. 458, pp. 651-652, lines 26-28. Nun and hegoumene of the monastery of Kloubion, Euphrosyne 4 was the addressee of several letters from Theodoros 15 (Theodore the Stoudite): Theod. Stud., Ep. 458, pp. 651-653 (c. 821/826; addressed Εὐφροσύνῃ ἡγουμένῃ τοῦ Κλουβίου); cf. Epp. 460, pp. 655-657 (c. 821/823); 465, pp. 666-667 (c. 823); 472, pp. 678-679 (c. 823/ 826); 482, pp. 705-707 (January/7 March 824); 506, pp. 749-751 (c. 824/826); 510, pp. 757-758 (c. 824/826); 530, pp. 792-794 (c. 824/826) (all addressed Εὐφροσύνῃ ἡγουμένῃ). She received one letter jointly with her mother Eirene 17: Theod. Stud., Ep. 62, pp. 173-174 (c. 821/823; addressed Εἰρήνῃ καὶ Εὐφροσύνῃ μοναζούσαις). She became head of the monastery on the death of her mother: Theod. Stud., Epp. 458, p. 651, line 3; 460, p. 655, line 3; 465, p. 666, line 3; 472, p. 678, line 3; 482, p. 705, line 2; 506, p. 749, line 4; 510, p. 757, line 6. She is styled τῆς τιμιότητός σου (or similar), Epp. 460, p. 655, line 2; 465, p. 666, line 2; 472, p. 678, line 2; 506, p. 749, line 2; 510, p. 757, line 2; 530, p. 792, line 2; and τὴν σεμνοπρέπειάν σου, Ep. 506, p. 749, line 4; and is addressed as δέσποινα, Ep. 458, p. 651, line 51; and ἀδελφὴ ἐν Κυρίῳ, Epp. 482, p. 705, line 5. She lived in Constantinople, where the monastery of Kloubion was: Theod. Stud., Ep. 510, p. 757, line 18. Possibly identical with the unnamed hegoumene to whom was addressed a catechetical letter of Theodoros 15: Theod. Stud., Ep. 483, pp. 707-710 (styled ἡ τιμιότης σου (p. 707, line 2) and σοῦ τῆς καθηγουμένης (p. 708, lines 32-33) and addressed as ἀδελφὴ ἐν Κυρίῳ (p. 709, line 59)); cf. Fatouros, pp. 441*-442*.
