Donatos 12 was bishop of Iader; soon after Christmas 805 he visited Charlemagne (Karoulos 1) with the two duces of Venetia, Willeri (Obelerios 1) and Beatos 3, and the dux of Iader, Paulos 97, as ambassadors of the Dalmatians; they gave large gifts to Charlemagne, who regulated matters concerning Venetia and Dalmatia before dismissing them: Annales Regni Francorum s.a. 806 (p. 122).
