Demetrios 16 was secundicerius, in Rome; in summer 768 he and Gratiosos 3 accompanied Toto 1 and Passibos 1 to the Gate of Pancratius and the Ianiculum to meet Sergios 53 and the Lombards who had come with him to overthrow the antipope Constantine (Konstantinos 140); after Toto 1 killed Racipert 1, Demetrios 16 and Gratiosos 3, who were to his rear, struck Toto 1 down and killed him: Lib. Pont. 96. 9. They were supporters of Christophoros 26 and Sergios 53. The date of the above incident was probably 30 July 768. Demetrios 16 was probably a secundicerius in the service of the bishop of Rome.
