Antonios 34 was bishop (archbishop) of Dyrrhachion; he was the addressee of two letters from Theodore the Stoudite (Theodoros 15) in 823 and 826: Theod. Stud., Ep. 462 (a. 823; addressed Ἀντωνίῳ τοῦ Δυρραχίου), Ep. 542 (May/Nov. 826; addressed Ἀντωνίῳ ἐπισκόπῳ). In 823 he criticised Erastos 2 for usurping a priestly function and baptising a dying baby, while Theodoros 15 defended Erastos; Antonios 34 is addressed as ἱερώτατε, πατέρων φίλτατε and ὦ δέσποτα and is styled ἡ θεοσέβειά σου: Theod. Stud., Ep. 462, cf. Ep. 466 (on the baptism). He is mentioned but not named in a letter of Theodoros 15 written at the same time as Ep. 462 to Iakobos 13; he had accepted the hospitality of an iconoclast bishop, an action which Theodoros 15 condemned: Theod. Stud., Ep. 466. He was an iconophile who suffered persecution at the hands of the iconoclasts; he is styled ἡ πατρική σου ἁγιωσύνη and is addressed as ὦ τριπόθητε: Theod. Stud., Ep. 542. He imposed a penance on the monk Dionysios 5, about which Dionysios 5 complained to Theodoros 15 for being too light; Theodoros 15 considered it adequate: Theod. Stud., Ep. 543.
