Albuinus (i.e. Alcuin 1), described as "deliciosus ipsius regis", was an envoy with Gulfard 1 and Georgios 127 to pope Hadrian (Hadrianos 1) in 773, sent by Charlemagne (Karoulos 1) to learn if king Desiderius (Desiderios 3) had fulfilled his undertaking to restore cities and iustitiae to the Roman see; they found that he had not done so, and so they returned to Charlemagne, accompanied by papal envoys demanding action; en route they visited Desiderios 3 to ask that he carry out his promises in the matter; he refused and the envoys all returned to Charlemagne: Lib. Pont. 97. 26-27.
