Abdullah 9 was `Abd Allah b. `Umar al-Khattab, son of the caliph `Umar (Omar 1); see Encyclopaedia of Islam, vol. I, pp. 53-54. In AH 49 (Feb. 669/Jan. 670) he was one of those who accompanied Yezid 1 on an expedition against Constantinople: Tabari XVIII, p. 94. See also Abdullah 3, Abdullah 8 and Abu Ayyub 1.
