Zosimas 5 was a Stoudite monk; he perished with his fellow-monk Gaianos 1 in a shipwreck during winter 815/816 while they were carrying letters from Theodoros 15 (Theodore the Stoudite); they are mentioned in letters of Theodoros 15 written in summer 816: Theod. Stud., Ep. 114 (deaths of Zosimas 5 and Gaianos 1, while sailing in winter; Possibly identical with the dead Stoudite monk Zosimas mentioned as an example to be followed in one of Theodoros 15's sermons: Theod. Stud., Catech. Parva 38 (p. 141 Auvray).
