Zosimas 2 was one of the monks and priests who visited Italy under pope Nicolas I (Nikolaos 28) and on their return to Constantinople voiced complaints against the attitude of Nikolaos 28 and demanded that he be punished; Zosimas 2's colleagues included Basilios 122 and Metrophanes 2; their complaints were reported by Photios 1 in a letter to the eastern patriarchs; they are referred to as τῶν μοναχῶν καὶ πρεσβυτέρων: Photius, Ep. 2 (I 51 Laourdas-Westerink) (written in c. 866).
