Theophilos 55 was a priest from Blachernai; in 798 he was sent with Michael 139 as envoy to Charlemagne (Karoulos 1) by the empress Eirene 1, after the overthrow of her son Constantine VI (Konstantinos 8), on a mission concerning peace; when he sent them back he allowed Sisinnios 86 to return with them: Annales Regni Francorum s.a. 798 ("erant enim legati Michahel quondam patricius Frigiae et Theophilus presbiter"), Annales Einhard. s.a. 798 ("legati fuere Michahel cognomento Ganglianos et Theophilus presbiter de Blachernis").
