Theodosios 77 was metropolitan bishop of Chalcedon; in 839 he and Theophanes 54 were sent by the emperor Theophilos (Theophilos 5) to the Frankish emperor Louis the Pious (Lodo chos 2) with gifts and a letter requesting confirmation of the peace; this embassy was accompanied by envoys of the "Rhos" whom Theophilos sent home by a roundabout route; the envoys were received with honour at Ingelheim on 18 May: Prudentius of Troyes, Annales s.a. 839 ("Theodosius videlicet, Calcedonensis metropolitanus episcopus"). He may be identifiable with Theodosios 41; cf. Treadgold, Revival, p. 309.
