Theodoros 162 was a pupil of Leo the Philosopher (Leo 19); when Bardas 5 created schools for higher education in the Magnaura during the reign of Michael III (Michael 11), Theodoros 162 was put in charge of the geometry section: Theoph. Cont. IV 29 (p. 192) (ὁ δὲ δὴ τούτου φοιτητὴς Θεόδωρος τοῦ τῆς γεωμετρίας διαιτητηρίου προΐστατο). A former pupil of the philosopher Leo 19, he was appointed to teach geometry at the Magnaura by Bardas 5; he was rewarded out of imperial funds: Genesius IV 17 (τὸν αὐτοῦ φοιτητὴν ἐν γεωμετρίᾳ Θεόδωρον). Although not expressly described as such, it is possible that both Theodegios 1 (astronomy) and Komitas 4 (Greek grammar) were also pupils of Leo 19, like Theodoros 162.
