Symeon 12 was a basilikos protospatharios and strategos of Thrace; owner of a seal dateable to the eighth or ninth century: Schlumberger, Sig., p. 122- 123, no. 4 with facsimile. Obv.: invocative monogram of Θεοτόκε βοήθει with the legend τω - σω - δου - λω. Rev.: Συμε - ων β' α' σπαθ - (καὶ) στρα... - Θρακ... The name and titles read: Συμεὼν βασιλικῷ πρωτοσπαθαρίῳ καὶ στρατηγῷ Θρᾴκης. Cf. Winkelmann, Rangstruktur, p. 91. Cf. also Symeon 23.
