Symbatios 7 is called: Symbatios (Theoph. Cont.); Sabbatios (Scylitzes, Genesius); unnamed (Zonaras). A monk living at Philomelion in 813 in the former dwelling of the monk (Anonymus 57) who in 803 had foretold the throne for Leo V (Leo 15); in 813 he openly reviled Leo 15 for worshipping images and prophesied for him a short reign unless he condemned the practice (cf. Anonymus 593); the historical tradition blamed him for turning Leo 15 into an iconoclast: Theoph. Cont. I 15 (p. 26), Scyl., pp. 14-15, Genesius I 13, Zon. XV 19. 21-23.
