Stephanos 136 was magistros; addressee of a letter of condolence from Theodoros 15 (Theodore the Stoudite) on the death of his wife (Anonyma 71) in c. 821; he was asked by Theodoros 15 to intervene with the emperor (Michael II, i.e. Michael 10) for the restoration of icons; Theodoros 15 had written to him previously, both during and after the persecution; he is described as τὸν ὡς ἀληθῶς ἀξιάγαστον καὶ τῆς συγκλήτου πρωτόβαθρον (p. 589, lines 44-45), styled τῇ μεγαλοφυεῖ σου ἐξουσίᾳ (p. 588, line 19), and addressed as δέσποτά μου (p. 589, line 24) and κύριέ μου (p. 588, line 16): Theod. Stud., Ep. 420, pp. 588-589 (addressed Στεφάνῳ μαγίστρῳ). Probably not identical with Stephanos 128 (whose wife was apparently still alive late in Michael 10's reign).
