Stephanos 99 was a anthypatos, patrikios, basilikos protospatharios and sakellarios; owner of two seals dateable to the second half of the ninth century: Zacos II 289a and b. Obv.: (289a) patriarchal cross on base and two steps, with the legend: + Κ(ύρι)ε βοήθη τῷ σῷ δούλῳ; (289b) patriarchal cross on base and two steps, with the legend: + Κ(ύρι)ε βοήθει Στεφανω ανθυπα'. Rev.: (289a) + Στεφ - ανω ανθυπ' - πατρικ' β' α' - σπαθ' (καὶ) σα - κελλ; (289b) patriarchal cross on base and two steps, with the legend + πατρικ' β' α' σπαθ' (καὶ) σακελλα. The name and titles read: Στεφάνῳ ἀνθυπάτῳ πατρικίῳ βασιλικῷ πρωτοσπαθαρίῳ καὶ σακελλαρίῳ.
Possibly identical with the sakellarios Stephanos (PBE II) who took part in the Eighth Ecumenical Council; see Mansi XVI 81D, 96D, 134C, 158A. Cf. also Staurakios 28.
