Stephanos 50 was bishop of Syracuse, also called archbishop of Sicily; in 787 he was represented at the Second Council of Nikaia (the Seventh Ecumenical Council) by the priest Galaton 1, who supported the iconophile position: Mansi XII 994 (Στεφάνου ἐπισκόπου Συρακουσίων), XIII 137 (unnamed ἀρχιεπισκόπου Σικελίας), XIII 384 (Στεφάνου ἐπισκόπου Συρακούσης). Presumably an iconophile.
