Sigirpand 1 was a Lombard, son of Ansprand 1 and, presumably, of Theodorada 2 (wife of Ansprand 1); he was the elder brother of Liutprand 1 (the future king Liutprand); he had a sister, Aurona 1; he was blinded by king Aripert II (Aripert 1) as a possible rival to the throne, in c. 702 when Ansprand 1 had been forced to flee for refuge to the Bavarians; other relatives of Ansprand 1 also suffered afflictions and disfigurements: Paul. Diac. Hist., Lang. VI 22.
