A Lombard, Sicuald 1 lost two sons in the battle in which the Lombards under Ferdulf 1 were defeated by the Slavs; later, in old age, he fought against the Slavs in another battle, under Pemmo 1, and after satisfying his revenge chose to fight on until killed himself: Paul. Diac. Hist., Lang. VI 45.
