Sergios 31 was a koubikoularios; owner of seals jointly with Artakios 1, dateable to the late seventh or early eighth century: Seibt, Bleisiegel, no. 54 (obv.: +Σερ - γιου και - Αρτακι - ου κουβ(ικουλαρίων); rev.: +δου - λων της - Θεοτο - κου+), Zacos and Veglery 986 (obv.: + - Σεργι - ου και - Αρτακι - ου+; rev.: +δου - λων της - Θεοτο - κου+). The name Artakios indicates Armenian origin, and Seibt suggested that the two men were brothers; he also proposed that they may not have been eunuchs, since it is not certain that at this period all koubikoularioi had to be eunuchs. See Seibt, Bleisiegel, p. 165.
