Artakios 1 was a koubikoularios; owner of seals jointly with Sergios 31, dateable to the late seventh or early eighth century: Seibt, Bleisiegel I, no. 54 (obv.: +Σερ - γιου και - Αρτακι - ου κουβ[ικουλαριων]; rev.: +δου - λων της - Θεοτο - κου+), Zacos and Veglery 986 (obv.: + - Σεργι - ου και - Αρτακι - ου+; rev.: +δου - λων της - Θεοτο - κου+). The name Artakios indicates Armenian origin; Seibt suggests that the two men were brothers and were not necessarily eunuchs, since it is not certain that in this period all koubikoularioi had to be eunuchs. Seibt dates the two seals to the late seventh or early eighth century, Zacos and Veglery to the seventh.
