Rodelinda 1 was the wife of the Lombard king Perctarit 1 and mother of Cunincpert 1: Paul. Diac., Hist. Lang. IV 51, V 33, 34. Mother also of Wigilinda 1: Paul. Diac., Hist. Lang. VI 2. After the murder of Godepert 1 and the flight of her husband from Milan to take refuge among the Avars (in c. 662) she and her little son were exiled to Beneventum by the new king Grimoald 3: Paul. Diac., Hist. Lang. IV 51. Following the return of Perctarit 1 (in 671 or 672) she and Cunincpert 1 were summoned back from Beneventum to Ticinum: Paul. Diac., Hist. Lang. V 33. After her return she built a basilica of the Mother of God at a place called Ad Perticas outside the walls of Ticinum: Paul. Diac., Hist. Lang. V 34 (she is styled "regina").
